Glasgow’s Waterside neighbourhood gets thumbs up

Glasgow City Council has approved the proposals brought forward by Peel Waters to transform a derelict brownfield site into a waterfront neighbourhood.

The scheme, known as Yorkhill Quay, has a GDV of £350m. It comprises 1,100 homes for the open market, build-to-rent and co-living sectors, alongside a 200-bedroom hotel, commercial space and 26,910 sq ft of land for leisure use.

The new development, created by Keppie Design, is expected to connect the west end of Glasgow to the city centre. It sits within Peel’s wider Glasgow Waters district masterplan, which is already home to Clydeside Distillery and Riverside Museum.

Brian Lavalette, property director for Scotland at Peel Waters, said: “Glasgow Waters is one of the largest regeneration projects in Scotland, and Yorkhill Quay will be a landmark development within it, delivering new homes, improved connectivity and infrastructure whilst creating a pipeline of new jobs for our community.”

McInally Associates advised Peel on planning matters.
