Glaxo Wellcome and SmithKline Beecham are set to consolidate their combined management, administrative and commercial facilities in three sites in south-east England, occupying a total of 171,958 sq m (1,851,000 sq ft).
Glaxo SmithKline, will be occupying a £250m corporate headquarters currently under construction in Brentford, Middlesex. Glaxo SmithKline House will provide 73,391 sq m (790,000 sq ft) of office space for up to 3,000 employees. It is due for completion in the third quarter of 2001.
The current corporate HQ for Glaxo Wellcome at Greenford will be maintained as a site for research and development facilities. It provides 72,149 sq m (776, 627 sq ft) of space, of which 6,990 sq m (75,240 sq ft) is offices.
And Glaxo SmithKlines UK pharmaceutical operating company will be based in 26,436 sq m (284,568 sq ft) of space at Stockley Park, near Heathrow.
Seven other sites currently occupied by the two firms in the south east of England will be vacated following completion of the new corporate headquarters.
