Housebuilder Gleeson acquired 478 plots for its land bank in the past four months and plans to almost treble the number of purchases.
The firm took advantage of low land prices in the North of England to purchase three sites (478 plots) between 1 July and 17 November.
It is now in discussions to acquire 12 more sites (1,380 plots), taking the total number of plots to more than 2,600.
During the period, Gleeson secured planning permission for 600 houses in Littlehampton, West Sussex, and 58 houses in Swaythling, Hampshire.
