Gleggs Developments has gained consent for a £30m mixed-use development of Castle College campus on Maid Marian Way in Nottingham.

Plans for the three-acre site include replacing the 1960s-built Castle College with a 100,000 sq ft purpose-built facility alongside 250,000 sq ft of offices and 50,000 sq ft of shops and restaurants.

The new Castle College campus building has been designed by London architect Hawkins Brown which is working in collaboration with Arup Nottingham.

Tim Garratt, director, Innes England, advising the college, said: “This has been a challenging project with the scheme backing onto the Castle, the planning constraints are significant and this development needs to fit sensitively into its historical context.”

The College have already moved some students out of the campus to the former Cowies site on London Road, which was acquired by Innes England last summer.

The scheme now looks set to start on site in the spring.
