Global Roundup: Australian data, NZ house prices

Australian retail sales exceeded expectations, rising 0.4% on the month in October. Meanwhile, the country’s trade deficit narrowed to A$1.3 billion in the same month, from A$2.2 billion.

House price rises in New Zealand’s largest city, Auckland, outpaced the national average, with prices there up 9.3% on the year according to data from Quotable Value. Nationwide, prices rose 5.1%.

“We are seeing a reacceleration of values in Auckland with the residential price movement index chart now showing a steepening upward trend,” Andrea Rush, spokesperson for QV, said.
