Henry Boot has appointed Lee Powell as managing director of its construction division from next year.
Powell will replace Tony Shaw who will depart at the end of 2024, having been with the business for almost 40 years. He will be spending time with family before pursuing new opportunities.
During his career, Shaw has held a number of positions at Henry Boot, including regional manager and operations director, before being promoted to managing director of the construction business in 2021.
Powell currently serves as the chief executive of contractor GMI Construction, where he has spearheaded the growth of the company in the north of England and the Midlands, delivering projects for clients such as Siemens, Bruntwood and Muse. Prior to that, Powell worked for Wates Construction and Caddick Construction.
In his new role Powell’s primary focus will be to restore and grow Henry Boot’s construction business.
Tim Roberts, chief executive at Henry Boot, said: “Lee’s passion for delivering high-quality spaces and places aligns with what Henry Boot is all about – creating impact.
“[Shaw] leaves the business on good terms, and we appreciate everything he has done, contributing to the success of Henry Boot over the years.”
