The owner of Harbour Hotels, Nicolas James Group, has secured planning consent for a £25m leisure complex at Ocean Village Marina, Southampton.
As part of its joint venture with MDL Marinas, the firm has permission to develop a 76-bedroom hotel, including a gym and spa, as well as a restaurant. There is also consent for 82 flats.
Nicolas Roach, Nicholas James Group chairman, said “Southampton city lacks a five-star hotel product. We intend to bring a luxury waterfront hotel and spa to the city.”
The jv is also discussing options about delivering a new retail and restaurant arcade at the front of the marina, Adjacent to the hotel.
Construction is due to begin in the autumn, with completion expected early 2014.
