S Harrison Developments has got the green light for a £35m mixed-use redevelopment of the York Press offices.
The two-acre site on Walmgate will see new offices built for local newspaper The Press, as well as 58 student beds and 303 studio flats.
These flats will be owned by student housing group Student Castle.
The project also includes redeveloping the Wards warehouse and creating new frontage onto Walmgate.
S Harrison design manager Chris Hale said: “The scheme sees an underutilised brownfield site redeveloped to deliver much-needed student accommodation for the city’s growing student population.”
The scheme is due to complete by September 2015.
