Land Securities and Centros Properties have won outline planning consent for an 18,237 sq m (196,000 sq ft) retail development on Vicar Lane in the centre of Chesterfield, Derbyshire.
The single-level uncovered center will be anchored by two variety stores with 32 shop units and parking for 400 cars. Construction will begin early next year, with completion in time for Easter 1999.
The proposals were reworked after Chesterfield Council selected the jv as preferred developers earlier this year. The overall floorspace was increased by 1,486 sq m (16,000 sq ft) but the number of variety stores has been cut from four to two.
