Goodman and SWIP let 220,000 sq ft to Wincanton in Herts?

Goodman and Scottish Widows Investment Partnership have let a new 220,000 sq ft distribution centre at Hoddesdon Commercial Park, Hertfordshire, to Wincanton.

The distribution company has taken a 15-year lease at undisclosed rent and plans to open the new facility in July to support the company’s growth within the foodservice sector.

It replaces the company’s regional foodservice operations based in Luton and Dunstable.

Goodman and SWIP formed a 50-50 joint venture in 2006 to fund and develop 895,000 sq ft of space at Hoddesdon Commercial Park.

The partnership has so far built and let 850,000 sq ft of industrial and distribution space in 30 months.

Jason Dalby, managing director of UK logistics for Goodman, said: “As a market leader, Wincanton’s occupation at Hoddesdon is testimony to our customer-focused approach and experience of working with JV partners to deliver strategically located and well-designed property.”

David Jones, managing director for foodservice at Wincanton, added: “The site at Luton is both old and constrained in terms of size to meet current challenges and our anticipated further business growth.

“This new 220,000 sq ft modern facility, will allow us to greatly enhance the service to our customers, enabling both Wincanton’s ambitious growth plans and those of our existing customers to be met.”

CB Richard Ellis and Paul Wallis Commercial acted for Goodman; Wincanton’s was unrepresented.
