Goodman is to develop a 330,000 sq ft £100m distribution hub for parcel carrier DPD at Hinckley Commercial Park in the East Midlands.
Goodman, which owns Hinckley Commercial Park, will develop the property on behalf of DPD, subject to the necessary detailed planning consent.
If planning permission is granted, the hub will create up to 1,000 permanent jobs in the area, providing a significant employment boost.
Goodman UK logistics managing director Charles Crossland said: “DPD’s planned investment into this parcel hub will be considerable, and greatly benefit the local community and wider region.”
DPD chief executive Dwain McDonald added: “The Hinckley site provides us with the optimum location in terms of motorway links for the whole of the UK and the new hub will give us the capacity, scale and flexibility to meet the future demands of our rapidly growing customer base.”
Hinckley & Bosworth borough council leader councillor Stuart Bray said: “We have been working over the past few months with Goodman and the team from DPD to facilitate this state-of-the-art facility on land allocated for new employment at Sketchley Brook.
“This will significantly contribute to the council’s regeneration plans for securing more than £1bn investment in economic growth in the area over the next 10 to 15 years, creating jobs for local people.”
