Goodman signs Hitachi nuclear firm

Goodman has agreed a 51,787 sq ft prelet at Gloucester Business Park to develop a headquarters for UK nuclear energy specialists Horizon Nuclear Power.

The company is to move into its bespoke headquarters in 2016, when the project is expected to complete.

The new building will also allow the company to accommodate its rapidly growing workforce with the opportunity to expand to 67,000 sq ft.

Horizon already occupies 20,000 sq ft at Gloucester Business Park and Goodman, which owns, develops and manages the park, has agreed to let an additional 16,500 sq ft to Horizon until its headquarters is completed.

Horizon Nuclear Power is a UK energy company developing a new generation of nuclear power stations. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hitachi.

Goodman UK Business Parks development director James Raven said: “This prelet is a very positive announcement for Gloucester Business Park and the local area. Horizon’s expansion at the park demonstrates its commitment to the region, the strength of the local labour force and Goodman’s ability to deliver a state-of-the-art headquarters. It is a testament to both the facilities and location that Horizon’s team has decided to further develop its business here during its time of rapid growth.

“We will work closely with Horizon to ensure the company’s new headquarters meets its requirements and the transition between offices runs smoothly. It is a very exciting time for Horizon and we look forward to continuing our work with them.”

Horizon Nuclear Power chief operating officer Alan Raymant said: “Our current offices on the park have served us extremely well, but as our plans have developed, the company has grown and we need a bigger facility. Gloucester Business Park is ideal for us. This part of the country has good transport links and a strong heritage of nuclear professionals, companies and related industries. We’re growing fast and are looking for high-calibre people across a range of disciplines to join us.”

Other tenants on Gloucester Business Park including Direct Wines, Beverage Brands, Symantec, Ageas, NHS Gloucestershire, GTEM and Detica.
