Google set to buy €100m European HQ

Internet search engine Google is close to buying its European HQ in Dublin.

The internet giant is expected to exchange contracts to buy Gordon House and Gasworks House, its 200,000 sq ft HQ on Barrow Street, for around €100m (£85m) on Friday. The purchase will be the second major deal for Google in recent weeks.

Last month it bought the 205,000 sq ft Montevetro building on the opposite side of Barrow Street. It was acquired from Treasury Holdings – at the request of the National Asset Management Agency – for €99m.

Gordon House and Gasworks House were developed by Liam Carroll, whose property empire has since collapsed with an estimated debt of €1.2bn. The two properties were sold on behalf of Ernst & Young, acting for lender Bank of Scotland (Ireland).

Cushman & Wakefield and Lisneys are advising Google.
