Google’s Euro chief explains the company’s move to new London HQ

Google-THUMBGoogle’s European chief has explained more about why the company is expanding into a new London headquarters in King’s Cross.

Last week the tech giant unveiled plans for a new 10-storey, 650,000 sq ft complex alongside its new offices in Pancras Square, N1.

Speaking at today’s CBI conference in London, Matt Brittin said the business was excited to be moving into the heart of an emerging knowledge quarter, alongside the Crick Institute and University of the Arts.

“We are investing in the UK and we want to inspire the next generation,” Brittin told delegates.

“We are only successful in the UK because people want to use our products and services and because British businesses are successful using our products and services.”

Brittin also said that Google wanted to improve the UK’s digital skills base, by offering every individual five hours of digital training: “We want to make a contribution and we believe in the users and the talents of those businesses.”
