Michael Gove has urged Liz Truss to “keep faith” with Boris Johnson’s commitment to ending no-fault evictions amid concerns that she is poised to scrap the plans.
Speaking at a Shelter event yesterday, the former levelling up secretary said the government must “level the playing field” between landlords and tenants.
He rejected suggestions that the legislation represented an attack on landlords and the Conservative values of “investment and thrift”.
The prime minister is believed to want to scrap the planned legislation, claiming it will do nothing to promote growth.
