Government and Ford to set up new industrial park in Dagenham

The government will work with Ford to set up a new industrial park in Dagenham following the motor manufacturer’s decision to end car production at the east London plant.

The establishment of the new park forms part of a ten point action plan to regenerate the east London suburb unveiled today by trade secretary Stephen Byers.

It will be linked to Ford’s world diesel engine centre, which the company has said will be located at Dagenham.

The Government has also said it will work with Ford to encourage high-tech engineering firms to locate in east London to take advantage of highly skilled workers amongst the 1,400 staff the company is making redundant.
