Government contemplates sale of security services’ HQs

The country’s security services could be on the move, as ministers consider selling the Thames-side offices of MI5 and MI6.

Sales of government buildings and land have raised some £1.4bn and have saved some £600m in annual running costs between 2010 and 2014. The news comes amid a call for £5bn of additional savings from disposals by 2020.

MI5 and MI6 are expected to move into other government buildings in Whitehall.
