The government is ending its help-to-buy mortgage guarantee scheme, although the help-to-buy equity loan scheme will continue to be available.
Chancellor Philip Hammond told the Bank of England that the scheme had achieved its purpose and would not be extended beyond 2016. The equity loan scheme part is to be extended to 2020.
The scheme was announced in the 2013 budget speech.
