Government launches review of CABE

The government has appointed Richard Parnaby, former chairman of the Design Commission for Wales, to oversee a review of its architecture watchdog CABE.   The Department for Culture, Media and Sport and the Communities Department initially unveiled plans for the “light touch” review in last July’s Housing Green Paper.   Parnaby is professor of architecture at the University of the West of England.   The review will examine how CABE contributes to government policy on architecture and design as well as the effectiveness of CABE’s design reviews.   paul.norman@rbi.co.uk
