Government lifts block on wind and solar subsidies

Dozens of onshore wind and solar farms could be built in Britain after the government committed to providing financial support.

Business and energy secretary Alok Sharma said that it would end the block imposed by David Cameron in 2016, with subsidies being offered from next year.

He promised that communities would have a “definitive say” on whether projects were permitted to proceed.
