Regeneration minister Lord Falconer has announced a review that will “fundamentally examine the role of English Partnerships”.
In the House of Lords today Falconer said he was bringing forward the regeneration company’s five-year review, due in 2003.
Falconer said: “We expect to complete the first stage of the review examining the role of English Partnerships by the end of this year. Subject to confirmation of the continued existence, we aim to complete the review of the structure and skills of the organisation by Easter, to ensure that English Partnerships can deliver their new role.”
He added that some form of overhaul was essential “to ensure that the future of English Partnerships is given greater clarity and focus”.
Paula Hay-Plumb, chief executive of English Partnerships, said: “We believe it is the most appropriate time for a review to take place and that its findings will reflect the value of the work we do in creating quality environments for communities across England.”
