Govt discusses business rates waver plan for poor areas

The government is considering plans to waive business rates for at least a year in poor areas to attract companies.

The plans are modelled on US cities such as Chicago where urban regeneration has been a success.

The government will also shortly consult businesses on an other idea to charge businesses a supplement for extra services in a bid to clean up urban troublespots.
