The Help-to-Buy scheme has created an extra 129,000 homeowners in the UK since its launch, according to figures from the government.
In total, the scheme has helped 160,000 people buy a home − 80% of which are first-time buyers − since 2013.
Figures show 94% of the purchases were outside London, with an average price of £189,795.
There were 256 completions in the capital between 1 February and 31 March 2016 using the London Help-to-Buy scheme, which offered a 5% deposit backed by an equity loan of up to 40% from the government.
The government has also published Right-to-Buy statistics, which it says have led to an average of 1,000 households purchasing their own home since 2012, with over 52,000 purchases in total.
