GPE executive director resigns

neil-thompsonNeil Thompson, Great Portland Estates’ executive director, has resigned.

Thompson is one of the best-known figures in London real estate and is currently the chairman of the Westminster Property Association and a past president of the British Council of Offices.

He has been at GPE since 2002, when he joined from Derwent Valley Holdings as investment surveyor. He started his career at Legal & General Investment Management.

Thompson has been instrumental in some of Great Portland’s most successful schemes during his tenure including Rathbone Place, W1; 240 Blackfriars Road, SE1; and 100 Bishopsgate, EC3, prior to the company selling out to Brookfield.

In recent years GPE has been expanding the executive committee that Thompson sat on. As well as chief executive Toby Courtauld and finance director Nick Sanderson, the committee now also includes investment director Robin Matthews, portfolio director Steven Mew, development director Andrew White and leasing director Marc Wilder.
