GPE promotes sustainability head to executive committee

Director of sustainability and community, Janine Cole, has been promoted to Great Portland Estates’ executive committee.

Cole will join the board on 29 March and will become sustainability and social impact director. Having joined GPE’s health, safety and environmental team in 1998, she was appointed head of sustainability in 2011 and director of sustainability and community in 2019.

GPE said Cole had been instrumental in driving its sustainability and community initiatives, including its commitment to become a net zero carbon business by 2030 and the recent launch of its decarbonisation fund.

“As we broaden and deepen our offer to our occupiers, sustainability and social impact considerations are increasingly important in our strategic thinking and business activities, and so Janine’s experience will be invaluable to the executive committee,” said chief executive Toby Courtauld.

The firm has made a number of other senior management changes in the business, including promoting current company secretary Darren Lennark to general counsel and company secretary,  Alexis George as head of health and safety, Rebecca Bradley as head of property services, Lisa Dat as head of occupier services and Anisha Patel as head of marketing.
