Grainger has appointed Vanessa Simms as finance director.
Simms is expected to join the company in early spring 2016, and will be based in London.
The news follows the announcement earlier this year that Mark Greenwood, the current finance director, will be retiring at the end of the year.
David Smith, Grainger’s accounting director, will be covering the position on an interim basis until Simms takes up her new role.
Simms joins Grainger from student accommodation provider Unite, where she has worked as deputy chief financial officer since 2012.
Prior to Unite, she was UK financial director at SEGRO, as well as holding senior finance roles at Vodafone, Porsche and Stryker.
Baroness Ford, chairman of Grainger, said: “Vanessa brings strong and relevant PLC and real estate experience to Grainger, having held a number of senior finance roles in the industry, whilst having a proven track record of successfully implementing strategic and financial programmes.”
