Grand Central purchase cleared

Grand-Central-BirminghamThe £175m purchase of Grand Central shopping centre in Birmingham by Hammerson and Canadian Pension Plan has been cleared by the Merger Regulation of the European Commission.

Having received clearance, the deal is expected to close by mid-December.

The joint venture parties first agreed on the deal in February this year, where Hammerson will act as the asset manager.

Hammerson’s total acquisition costs for the centre come to £175m.
