Grangemouth closure announced

Ineos has announced plans to permanently shut its Grangemouth petrochemical plant – a joint venture with PetroChina.

Westminster and Holyrood scrambled to try to save what is Scotland’s most important industrial complex. Both are seeking potential buyers for the plant. Ineos believes a rescue is unlikely because any new owner would have to plough hundreds of millions of pounds into the facility.
