Rioja Development and investor Buckminster have been given the green light to develop a £100m designer shopping outlet close to the A1, near Grantham.
Grantham Designer Outlet, in south Lincolnshire, will create 1,500 jobs and is set to open in 2021.
It will be home to 130 luxury brands when fully let.
Plans include a direct link to the new Southern Relief Road to improve access from the A1, as well as a bus service to connect the railway station and Grantham town centre.
The scheme will also include cafès, restaurants, public spaces with play areas, 1,800 parking spaces and a visitor and tourism centre.
Leasing will begin in September 2018 and construction will commence in spring 2019.
Giles Membrey, managing director of Rioja Development, said: “Grantham Designer Outlet presents a unique opportunity for premium brands to bring their outlet offerings to an affluent audience that currently lacks easy access to this kind of retail destination.
“It is one of the last gaps in the market for a premium outlet village of this size and may well be the last of this style to be developed in the UK.”
Stephen Vickers, managing director of Buckminster, estimated its annual footfall will reach more than 3.5m visitors, adding: “The outlet village will be an ideal partner to the town centre, attracting visitors from further afield and, in turn, helping to drive a new audience into the town.”
