Guardian Royal Insurance will close seven offices in towns where recent acquisition Legal & General is also represented, and branches in a further five locations. London & East Anglia will merge with the South East and Midlands in a restructuring to be complete by mid-1997.
Barclays Banks decision to sell part of its global custody service to Morgan Stanley will cost 600 jobs in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, according to the banking union Bifu. The town has already lost some Barclays operations to Peterborough.
