A partnership led by Midas Homes and The Prince’s Foundation has won approval for a 10-acre (4.04ha) housing-led, mixed-use scheme in St Austell, Cornwall.
The planned urban village will feature around 140 flats and houses, small business units, shops, 10,000 sq ft (929 sq m) of managed offices and a village green, and has been designed by local architect Alan Leather Associates.
The project is a partnership between Restormel council, the South West Regional Development Agency, Devon & Cornwall Housing Association, Midas Homes and The Prince’s Foundation.
The scheme will occupy a derelict former British Rail goods yard and will complement David McLean Developments’ planned £40m redevelopment of the town centre, on which work is set to begin in February.
