Green light for £100m redevelopment of St John’s Centre

St John's Centre

Land Securities has won consent for a £100m redevelopment of its St John’s Centre shopping centre in Liverpool.

The scheme will undergo a major refurbishment and extension, increasing its overall size from 360,500 sq ft to 480,000 sq ft.

The appearance of the centre will be changed most dramatically by the creation of a double-height retail mall.

The St John’s Centre is Liverpool’s largest covered shopping centre and was built by LandSec in 1969.

Work is expected to start in early 2009, with completion scheduled for spring 2013.
