The Devonshire Group has been given the go-ahead for the construction of 650 new homes on a 114-acre site at Mastin Moor in Derbyshire.
The developer will now begin enabling works for phases 1 and 2 of the project, comprising 143 three-, four- and five-bedroom homes, designed by local developer Harron Homes.
The proposals also include delivery of a construction skills hub, created by Staveley Town Deal and developed by Chesterfield Borough Council. Upon completion, it will be operated by Chesterfield College in conjunction with the University of Derby. The hub is expected to provide a platform for construction training, careers activity and work experience on a live construction site.
The wider project is expected to take 10 years to complete, with later phases delivering further new homes, including affordable and accessible properties, accommodation for the elderly and a local centre.
The scheme will also provide almost 50 acres of publicly accessible open space and landscaping.
Andrew Byrne, property development director at the Devonshire Group, said: “Our focus now is to ensure that we move the project forward quickly, while also prioritising a considered, sustainable and sensitive approach for the benefit of the wider community that we serve.”
