Bywater Properties and Ashmour Developments have secured planning permission from Belfast City Council for a 260,000 sq ft regeneration project in Belfast city centre.
The plans were submitted in October 2018 for a major multi-use scheme between Gresham Street and Winetavern Street in the Smithfield area of the city.
Currently being used as a surface car park, the site will provide office space, co-working and studio spaces for small local businesses, as well as improvements to the public realm.
Belfast City Council’s planning committee last night provided approval for the project subject to a final consideration by the Department for Infrastructure.
The development will include a 170,000 sq ft office block.
Patrick O’Gorman, principal of Bywater Properties, said: “It was imperative that we took on board the feedback and input from the people that know this area best, and we believe this has been a vital factor in our successful planning application.
“Having gone through this process, we are hopeful we will receive a similarly positive outcome from the Department for Infrastructure when they review the project.”
Construction on-site is expected to begin in 2020.
