Green light for Cleveland Clinic’s West End hospital

33-grosvenor-placeCleveland Clinic has been given consent to convert 33 Grosvenor Place, SW1, into its first London-based healthcare facility.

The healthcare company acquired the long leasehold of the260,000 sq ft building from Perella Weinberg Partners in September 2016 and submitted an application to convert the property from an office to a hospital. Grosvenor Estate owns the freehold.

Under the plans the building would accommodate a 205-bed clinic with eight operating theatres on six storeys plus basement and lower ground floor levels behind a retained façade.

Cleveland Clinic was founded in 1921 and is headquartered in Ohio, US. It operates affiliated facilities in Florida, Nevada, Canada and the United Arab Emirates.

The new premises will provide a link for existing patients in the UK and Europe as well as expanding the clinic’s presence internationally.

DP9 advised on the plans.
