Horsham council has given consent for Crest Nicholson’s 325-acre neighbourhood project, Kilnwood Vale.
The community will comprise 2,500 homes, with 30% being aside for affordable housing. The scheme will also include shops, a library, sports pavilion, healthcare centre and a primary school.
Construction on the project is set to begin later this year, with the first phase of 291 homes scheduled for completion in late 2012.
As well as its local amenities, Kilnwood Vale will also feature extensive infrastructure and public transport measures, including improvements to highway junctions in the Crawley area and an extension of the Fastway Metrobus service into the heart of the neighbourhood.
Stephen Stone, chief executive of Crest Nicholson, said: “Achieving full planning consent for the first phase of development at Kilnwood Vale is a major step forward, and it means that we can now concentrate on future delivery. The scale of the site makes it a significant addition to our portfolio of consented land, and it is a huge and exciting project for all involved.
