Green light for latest phase of Lord’s revamp

Plans for a new stand at Lord’s cricket ground have been approved by Westminster City Council.

Designed by Wilkinson Eyre, the new £50m stand will replace the existing Compton and Edrich stands at the Nursery End of the cricket ground providing 11,500 seats and new hospitality areas, including two large flexible event spaces.

It will increase the overall capacity at the ground by 2,500 to 31,500 and reduce the number of restricted-view seats.

Lord’s is being revamped by its owner Marylebone Cricket Club and the new stand is the latest phase of its 2013 masterplan to improve the facilities and maintain its competitiveness to host major matches.
