Green light for Warks scheme

Social housing provider Orbit Homes has won consent for a multi-million-pound mixed-use development in Southam, Warwickshire.

Plans for the scheme won unanimous approval from Stratford-on-Avon district council on Wednesday night.

The proposals include a library, community facilities, restaurant and 75 care homes for retired or vulnerable residents.

The scheme will be located in the town centre and involve the demolition of the empty former care home of Victor Hodges House, Southam Library, 2 Park Lane and 7 High Street.

The development is a venture between Orbit and land owners including Warwickshire county council and Southam town council.

Brooke Smith Planning advised Orbit Homes.
