The former Bank of England branch at 31 Castle Street in Liverpool has received the go-ahead from the city council to be transformed into an Ivy restaurant.
Troia (UK) Restaurants, which owns the brand, will refurbish and fit out the space to create the new venue, with minimal structural works proposed.
The 20,591 sq ft building, which was built by the Bank of England in 1846-48, is prominently situated on an island site bounded by Castle Street, Cook Street and Union Court. It was Grade I listed in 1952.
Pumphouse Designs is the architectural firm behind the conversion project, while Pegasus Group advised on planning matters.
A spokesperson for Pegasus said: “The Ivy is much-loved across the UK and this new operation will further bolster the city’s burgeoning premium hospitality offering.”
