Greene King to close depots and sell selected pubs and hotels but new centre planned for Bury St Edmunds

Greene King will close a site in Bedfordshire in April and three distribution centres. It will invest in new facilities such as a kegging line and distribution centre for its Bury St Edmunds brewery and information technology systems.

The group which recently acquired the 277-strong Magic Pub Company, has selected some managed an tenanted pubs and a few hotels to sell over the next 18 months. The sale should raise £20m-£30m.

Interim pre-tax profits rose 21% to £13.4m on turnover up 41% to £107.6m.
