Irish property developer Raymond Grehan has been declared bankrupt in the UK, just a fortnight after the high court issued a worldwide freezing order against him.
Raymond Francis Grehan, 50, was declared bankrupt on 30 December, according to details filed on the UK Insolvency Register.
In April 2011 an Irish Court ordered him to pay more than €250m (£210m) to Nama, and on 14 December a freezing injunction was ordered at the high court, stopping Grehan from disposing of his assets worldwide, or removing any assets held in England and Wales from the country.
These include Grehan’s interest in a £1m-plus flat in luxury development One Hyde Park, SW1, and a condominium suite at the Ritz Carlton in Toronto, Canada.
The order also required him to provide details of any of his assets worldwide exceeding £50,000 by 21 December, as well as any disposals of such assets since 1 January 2010 that were not on commercial arm’s-length terms.
The bankruptcy notice lists Grehan living and trading at a flat at Bateman’s Row, EC2. He is also said to have been living in Maynooth in County Kildare.
Grehan will return to court on 17 January 2012.
