The architect responsible for Grenfell Tower’s lethal cladding didn’t know it was a fire risk.
Bruce Sounes, an associate at Studio E Architects, said he was unaware of how cladding could contribute to the spread of fire after being shown a diagram at the inquiry into the Grenfell disaster.
He added that he did not see it as his role to check the safety of designs prepared by contractors and specialists, but rather to ensure that they complied with the “architectural intent” of the project.
