Grenfell cladding bosses pocket £50m since tragedy

The bosses of the four biggest companies linked to the Grenfell fire have received nearly £50m in pay, bonuses, shares and dividends since the tragedy.

Analysis of company accounts, stock exchange filings and other records shows that the bosses of Kingspan, Arconic, Rydon and Saint-Gobain have banked huge payouts as recriminations continue over responsibility for the disaster in which 72 people died.

At the top of the list is Gene Murtagh, the boss of Kingspan, who has received nearly £15m in pay and perks since 2017, rising to £32m if the sale of shares is included.

Over the same period, the company has posted profit of nearly £1.2bn, with directors collectively banking £37m.

Analysis of the building companies’ accounts show that since the fire, Kingspan, Arconic, Rydon and Saint-Gobain have collectively posted profit of £4.9bn.
