A 36ha (90-acre) site has been earmarked as the location for Grimsby Town Football Club’s next stadium and a retail development in the North East Lincolnshire Local Plan.
The site, which adjoins the A180 – the main gateway to Grimsby and Cleethorpes on the western outskirts of Grimsby – is the focus of a joint venture scheme put together last year by Grimsby Town FC and Chiltern Investment Properties. The proposals comprise a 20,100-seat football stadium, a 13,935 sq m (150,000 sq ft) non-food retail park, a 1,858 sq m (20,000 sq ft) garden centre, a hotel and three restaurants.
“We are already in advanced discussions with key anchor tenants,” said Graham Pickering of Chiltern Investment Properties. “With the Local Plan allocation and as the Highways Agency and Environment Agency have already signed off the proposals, approval of the planning application should be a relative formality and we expect to start on site next summer.”
The letting agents are Allsop & Co and Harvey Spack Field.
