Joint venture partners Grosvenor Britain & Ireland and the Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels have submitted plans for a 190-bedroom hotel at Hyde Park Corner, W2.
The Hopkins Architects-designed Peninsula London at 1-5 Grosvenor Place will replace 1960s-built offices at the site. As well as guest rooms and a spa, it will have shops, bars, restaurants and a ballroom.
A pedestrian entrance on Grosvenor Place will be accessed from a colonnade linking to an internal palazzo-style courtyard.
There will also be 24 to 28 flats with an entrance on Halkin Street. Construction work is set to start in summer 2017, subject to planning.
