The Groucho Club has changed hands in an estimated £40m deal.
The Soho private members’ club, patronised by the arts and media crowd, was founded in 1985. It has now been sold to Artfarm, a hospitality venture run by Ewan Venters, a former chief executive of Fortnum & Mason.
The vendor was Alcuin Capital Partners, the private equity firm that co-owns Caffè Nero. It bought the club in 2015 from Graphite Capital.
The new owner is hoping to boost its membership, and is looking at an expansion of the brand overseas.
