Growth slowing says retail and housing data

Weaker performance in housing and retail in official GDP figures for the third quarter suggest that the speed of economic growth in the UK is slowing.

Retail figures showed that the quantity of goods sold in September fell by 0.3% from August while separate figures from British Bankers’ Association show that approvals for house purchases in September were 10% lower than a year ago.

The statistics have led analysts to estimate that GDP has slowed a little from the 0.9% recorded last quarter.
