Grub’s up! Plans in for F&B venue in Manchester

Manchester is set to gain a new independent arts, food and drinks venue run by the team behind street food events operator Grub.

Plans for the Fairfield Social Club on Irk Street in the Red Bank neighbourhood were validated by Manchester council’s planning team this week, and centre on a two-year meanwhile use for an under-development residential scheme in the NOMA regeneration area.

A planning statement from Asteer Planning, which is advising on the scheme, described the proposed venue as “a relaxed, laid-back, inclusive space suitable for guests who just want to pop in for a pint in the sun, for visitors looking for a great live experience, as well as for people who are looking for a unique, premium culinary evening”.

The scheme would comprise an outdoor drinking space with room for 150 people, a performance space that could hold 300 visitors and a food and drink venue with space for 80 people.
