GSA chief steps down to pursue new venture

Global Student Accommodation chief executive Steve Grant has stepped down to pursue a new business venture with the company’s owner Nicholas Porter.

Grant will step down with immediate effect and will be replaced with ex-Hodes Weill & Associates partner Will Rowson. Further details of this venture will be shared over the coming weeks, according to GSA.

Rowson was partner at Hodes Weill & Associates for over four years, and left the firm in December last year. He has spent the last few months with the leadership team to “ensure a smooth transition”, GSA said, and that coronavirus has delayed the official move.

Prior to Hodes Weill & Associates, Rowson was part of the global leadership team at CBRE Global Investors EMEA for over three years and its chief investment officer EMEA for seven years.

He was also ING Real Estate’s director of European fund management for over two years, and Strutt & Parker investment partner for 16 years.

Porter said: “We are very pleased to welcome Will to the GSA team. Will’s experience and expertise in the real estate sector will drive our business forward and support our underlying portfolio on a global scale.”
