The Guardian‘s publisher has identified six sites for a potential new London headquarters.
Following a six-month property review, Guardian Media Group – owner of The Guardian and The Observer has signalled its intent to move and simultaneously sell its freehold on present HQ 119 Farringdon Road, EC1.
The group is based in more than 100,000 sq ft (9,290 sq m) in a number of buildings in EC1, including the 75,000 sq ft (6,967.5 sq m) Farringdon Road building. It now plans to consolidate into a 150,000 sq ft (13,935 sq m) building.
It has asked for proposals from schemes including Royal London Asset Management’s and Blackfriars Investment’s Palestra, SE1; British Land’s 180,000 sq ft (16,722 sq m) Ludgate West on Farringdon Street, EC4; and the site of Sainsbury’s old headquarters, 10 Blackfriars Road, SE1.
GMG may also consider taking a smaller, 100,000 sq ft (9,290 sq m), building in Clerkenwell as overflow and keeping its existing offices.
Knight Frank is advising.
